About The Position

As an Environmental Projects Construction Inspector with the Department of Environmental Protection, you will help guide field operations that keep construction and reclamation activities in compliance. This role allows you to support safe work practices while protecting land, water, and nearby communities. Your efforts will help ensure projects meet important standards and follow approved plans. This role focuses on inspecting construction and reclamation work to ensure compliance with permits, plans, and Department policy. The work supports safe operations and protects the public and the environment through careful oversight and documentation.

Requirements

Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations
An Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field
An equivalent combination of experience and training
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
Must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license
Must meet the PA residency requirement
Must be able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

Drive to project locations and review construction activities for compliance with permits and specifications
Accept or reject materials and workmanship based on required standards
Inspect erosion and sedimentation devices and recommend corrective actions when needed
Report unsafe conditions and require contractors to stop work until issues are corrected
Record daily activities, measurements, and findings using computers and other tools
Investigate mine related complaints and prepare written reports with findings and recommendations
