About The Position

Trileaf is seeking a full-time Environmental Project Scientist with 0-2 years of field experience conducting environmental due diligence work on telecommunications and commercial real estate projects, primarily including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I ESAs) and Phase II ESAs and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Review Reports and amongst other environmental assessment services. This position is based in our Schaumburg, Illinois office. Candidates will work on-site.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits of wireless communications facilities and commercial properties.
• Review historical records, environmental and regulatory databases.
• Interpret compiled information and draft standardized reports in accordance with ASTM E-1527-21 (AAI).
• Conduct site visits of proposed wireless communications facilities.
• Perform preliminary screening of listed and/or proposed threatened or endangered species, critical habitat, National Wetland Inventory Maps (NWI), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) etc.
• Conduct correspondence with Tribal, federal, state, and local agencies in accordance with FCC Rules Title 47 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1, Subpart I, rule sections 1.1301 to 1.1319.
• Interpret complied information and prepare a template NEPA report.
• Travel to project location, take detailed notes and photographs of site (1-2 days per week).
• Conduct interviews, analyze government database records, perform regulatory agency file reviews.
• Review historical data (including topographic maps, Sanborn fire insurance maps, city directories, and aerial photographs).
• Draft a standardized report using information from these various sources.
• Perform QA/QC to the satisfaction of both management and clients.
• Completing requested revisions & submitting report within pre-established timelines.
• Conduct field work to collect samples of potentially contaminated subsurface media (soil, groundwater, and soil vapor) and/or indoor air.
• Compare analytical contaminant data collected to applicable regulatory standards.
