About The Position

We are seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our Alberta team. We have one of the most experienced environmental and geosciences engineering consulting teams, focused on projects locally in Alberta while providing support across Canada and internationally where needed. This position is hybrid and can be based either in Edmonton or Calgary.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Geology, Agrology, Biology or Environmental Sciences.
  • Ability to acquire professional designation within two years of employment if not currently registered, and obtain CAPM Certification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of environmental consulting experience with 4+ years of progressive experience encompassing project planning, coordinating and project management with emphasis in the areas of contaminated site assessment and remediation.
  • Experience with the interpretation of provincial and federal environmental regulations, with a strong understanding of Alberta guidelines.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), including groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques, various drilling techniques, soil sample collection and logging, soil vapour sampling, remedial excavations, spill response and quality assurance/quality control protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment, including working with colleagues in different geographic regions.
  • Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain project schedules and budgets, including project financial forecasting; makes decisions with respect to overall technical execution of the project; liaise with technical specialists or other senior project managers to ensure the technical integrity of the project.
  • Supervision and mentorship of junior professional staff involved in carrying out field programs, ensuring project requirements are communicated and health and safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Participates in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
  • Communicate results of site assessment to stakeholders such as property owners, responsible party, regulators, the public, etc. via a public consultation or other appropriate communication process.
  • Prepare site assessment report(s) to meet regulatory and other requirements, identifying potential risk and scope of further action by appropriate stakeholders, if necessary.
  • Characterize environmental aspects of site based on interpretation of data collected during site investigation, sampling and analysis (for example, contaminants, their concentration and general extent).
  • Develop environmental sampling protocols, the frequency and timing of sampling, optimum locations for continuous or discrete sampling, data capture systems, and parameter list for analysis.
