About The Position

This full-time seasonal position provides senior technical services supporting enforcement of state and federal air-quality regulations in the Fairbanks PM2.5 Nonattainment Area. The incumbent works independently with minimal supervision, conducting compliance observations during winter air-alert episodes and assisting with the PM2.5 curtailment program. Observations may take place early in the morning or in the afternoon and may use infrared camera technology to verify compliance with restrictions on solid-fuel devices and wood-stove use. The role also supports enforcement actions, including preparing notices of violation, expedited settlement agreements, and advisory and compliance letters. Other duties include documenting non-compliance, processing photographs and other documentation, entering data, scanning and filing technical documents, reviewing technical reports, and handling submissions from industry. The incumbent interacts daily with the public and local stakeholders, responds to and investigates public air-quality complaints, and occasionally performs field work using basic hand tools. The position generally works in an office with some field work and requires technical judgment, organization, and project and time management. Some flexibility in work hours may be possible. The recruitment is open to Alaska residents only, and the position is based in Fairbanks.
