About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic, growth-oriented leader to join our team as an Environmental Principal. This hybrid position may be based in Thousand Oaks, Pleasant Hill, or Signal Hill, California. The Role As an Environmental Principal, you will serve as a senior technical advisor and trusted thought leader, helping clients navigate complex environmental challenges and develop strategic, high-value solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with business leadership and is focused on advancing Apex's environmental practice through technical excellence, client development, and team growth. You will play a key role in mentoring staff, expanding client relationships, and driving the continued success and growth of the environmental services team.

Requirements

• 10-15+ years of environmental consulting or industry experience with progressive responsibility and leadership.
• BS in Geology or Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related field.
• Licensure as Professional Geologist or Engineer.
• Established client relationships and an active network within the region or with national clients.
• Strong technical background in one or more of the core disciplines: Environmental Compliance, Site Investigation/Remediation, Site Development Permitting, EHS, or Due Diligence.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for engaging with senior-level clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of your region’s regulatory and business environment.
• Ability to mentor and train staff.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Strong safety awareness and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Provide subject matter expertise (SME), lead QA/QC efforts, and mentor project teams to promote technical excellence and high performance.
• Manage project performance with a focus on quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
• Travel to client locations as needed for meetings and project development.
