About The Position

Muller Engineering Company is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated professional to support our transportation and water resources practices. As a member of Muller’s Planning and Program Management group, this individual will support a variety of community and infrastructure projects through environmental analysis, regulatory compliance, permitting, and program and project management. Responsibilities will include conducting environmental analyses and preparing documentation in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience preparing technical reports and environmental compliance documents, supporting public and stakeholder engagement, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and obtaining environmental permits and approvals. The candidate will serve in a variety of project roles, including environmental task lead, project coordinator, technical reviewer, and document preparer.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years experience in environmental planning with a transportation focus.
  • Project leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Biological or Natural Science is desired.
  • Experience in reviewing engineer plans across multiple industries for environmental compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of CDOT NEPA procedures or related experience.
  • Experience in or knowledge of other programs, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and ESRI ArcGIS.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excel at building and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Have a professional registration in applicant’s field of practice (CEP, LEED, ENV SP, AICP).

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable about the NEPA process as well as Section 404 permitting, Section 7/10 consultation, Section 106 consultation, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing planning reports and projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Facilitating meetings and organizing agendas, minutes, and presentation materials.
  • Ideal candidate is a team player that strives to provide quality work, meet project needs, and deliver projects on time while having the ability to work independently with multiple priorities.
  • Provide outstanding internal and external client service.
  • Provide hands-on project support in the areas of planning studies, report preparation, project facilitation, and public and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify and strategize business development opportunities and assist with proposal preparation and interviews.
  • Serve as environmental lead on planning and multi-disciplinary transportation projects.
  • Deliver high-quality projects on-time and within budget.
  • Conduct quality reviews of project deliverables and proposal documents.
  • Assist in hiring additional planning staff upon securing sufficient project backlog.
  • Other duties as assigned.
