About The Position

As an Environmental Planner, you will play a key role in shaping sustainable transportation and infrastructure projects across Ontario. You will lead and support environmental assessments, navigate regulatory processes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, regulators, and communities to deliver impactful solutions that balance infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with Ontario environmental assessment processes, including: MTO’s Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities, Municipal Engineers Association’s Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, Transit and Rail Project Assessment Process (Ontario Regulation 231/08)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental studies, planning, environmental science, or engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience completing environmental assessments and navigating Ontario regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing stakeholder and Indigenous engagement programs.
  • Experience supporting proposal development and technical writing.
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal regulators and environmental permitting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support environmental planning and environmental assessments for provincial and municipal infrastructure projects, including highways and transportation corridors.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality project documentation, including consultation plans, Public Information Centre materials, and environmental assessment reports.
  • Apply sound professional judgement to resolve moderately complex to complex environmental and regulatory challenges.
  • Provide technical leadership and quality review for environmental technical studies prepared by specialty disciplines such as air quality, noise and vibration, natural environment, and cultural heritage.
  • Engage and collaborate with regulators, clients, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders, fostering trusted relationships and meaningful consultation programs.
  • Contribute to innovative engagement approaches, including virtual and hybrid consultation tools.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, promoting professional growth, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
