About The Position

The Environmental Planner I provides environmental support from concept development through project completion. The role involves researching, gathering, and analyzing data; preparing project materials; and applying environmental law and policy to help ensure compliance on behalf of the client. The position supports project planning and delivery under the direction of more experienced staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
Understand how to operate Microsoft Office Suite and client-specific programs, with direction from more experienced staff.
Compile and summarize data such as census, land use, ecology, Section 106, air, and noise data, with direction from more experienced staff.
Gain a basic understanding of environmental and planning laws and regulations, including NEPA and local, state, and federal laws.
Use technical writing skills proficiently and use basic templates to create technically sound reports.
Contribute to environmental and planning documents and help prepare reports with direction from more experienced staff.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Analyze design plans and identify deliverables.
Compile and analyze multidisciplinary data and propose technical solutions.
Collect raw data, organize and research it, and apply recognized analysis tools to conduct comprehensive reviews.
Prepare graphics and reports for limited portions of projects or small-scale projects.
Assist in creating and presenting project presentation materials, concepts, graphics, and reports to clients and community groups.
Attend project team meetings, with limited client interaction and interaction with other project consultants.
Document meeting minutes, correspondence, and other project-related forms within scope.
Perform other duties as assigned.
