About The Position

HDR is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planner 1 to work in our Transportation Business Group as a member of our Environmental Sciences and Planning Section, based out of either our Nashville or Brentwood, Tennessee offices. In the role of Environmental Planner 1, we'll count on you to: Collect and report project-related environmental data, including research, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, and field investigations of environmental features. Prepare NEPA documents, including associated technical memoranda. Prepare for and participate in public and client information meetings and hearings. Prepare, plan, and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents. Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance for wetland impacts, bridge construction, and threatened/endangered species. Manage and report on all aspects of environmental projects, including scope, schedule, and budget. Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Resources or Planning
  • Experienced in MS Office Suite
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of environmental experience
  • Experience delivering a variety of complex environmental projects and programs
  • Strong project management Skills
  • AICP certification
  • Local candidates preferred
