About The Position

Our team is currently looking to add an Environmental Pipeline Inspector, supporting pipeline construction projects across British Columbia and Alberta. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Environmental Inspector with a strong background in pipeline or linear infrastructure construction to monitor and enforce environmental compliance during all phases of construction. This position plays a critical role in minimizing environmental impacts while supporting safe and efficient project delivery. Please Note: This position is a field-based role working a 6 days on / 1 day off schedule and is a physically demanding role requiring work outdoors in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or a related field; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • 3 years of environmental inspection experience on pipeline or linear infrastructure construction projects
  • Experience working in environmentally sensitive areas including wetlands, watercourses, and forested regions
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes in BC and Alberta
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Water Act, Fisheries Act, and Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
  • Strong knowledge of EPPs, erosion and sediment control methods, and spill prevention and response procedures
  • Proficiency with GPS, mapping tools, environmental reporting software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Must have: H2S Alive (Energy Safety Canada approved); Standard First Aid / CPR; CSTS

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with Environmental Protection Plans (EPPs), project permits and approvals, and federal and provincial regulations including requirements from BCER, AER, DFO, and ECCC
  • Conduct routine site inspections during all phases of pipeline construction including clearing, grading, right-of-way development, watercourse crossings, trenching, backfilling, and reclamation
  • Monitor erosion and sediment control measures and provide recommendations for improvements; ensure proper handling and storage of fuels, chemicals, and waste materials
  • Monitor for wildlife interactions and enforce species-at-risk and habitat protection strategies; report wildlife sightings and incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Support environmental commitments related to Indigenous engagement, traditional land use, and protection of sensitive environmental and cultural sites
  • Maintain accurate daily environmental inspection reports; document non-compliance issues and track corrective actions to resolution
  • Respond to environmental incidents including spills, sediment releases, and unauthorized clearing; coordinate initial containment, documentation, and participate in incident investigations
  • Monitor reclamation activities to ensure land is restored according to approved plans including topsoil handling, re-contouring, and revegetation
