About The Position

Olsson is seeking a motivated and experienced NEPA and Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will lead natural resource evaluations and permitting efforts, including developing strategies for medium to large, complex projects. Responsibilities include coordinating fieldwork and reporting, report writing, providing technical guidance to staff, and engaging proactively with clients, stakeholders, and contractors. You will also manage budgets, invoicing, and schedules to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will possess experience with local, state, and federal permitting agencies, NEPA planning and compliance, and a strong understanding of key environmental programs. This includes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Clean Water Act - Section 404/10, wetlands and natural resource field investigations, federal land special use permits (SF299), as well as local and state regulations, and USFWS Endangered Species Act consultation. Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, biology, ecology, soils, environmental science, environmental policy, natural resource management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in NEPA, environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance
  • Hands-on experience in interpreting site plans, topographic maps, aerial photographs, and various mapping resources
  • Self-direction and dependability, with strong follow-through on deadlines and deliverables
  • Skilled in clearly communicating findings and producing high-quality written deliverables, including reports, memos, and documentation
  • Aptitude for approaching challenges with curiosity and a solutions-oriented focus
