About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to lead diverse teams in executing environmental permitting projects for various sectors including rail, renewable energy, oil and gas, and linear utilities. The role involves developing permitting strategies, coordinating with clients, and ensuring successful project outcomes. This position requires a strong understanding of state and federal laws and regulations such as the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act. The Project Manager will be responsible for senior-level quality assurance/quality control of client deliverables, including agency consultations and permit applications. Additionally, they will coordinate other project services like stormwater and erosion control planning, cultural resources, floodplain assessments, and civil engineering components. The role also includes client point of contact responsibilities, managing the technical, commercial, and financial performance of projects, and overseeing scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, change, and contracts. A significant part of the role involves supporting and managing client relationships, identifying opportunities, and leading pursuits and proposal development in collaboration with business development and account leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, civil engineering, biology, ecology, geology, or similar environmental discipline.
  • A minimum of seven years of total experience.
  • Five years of experience managing environmental permitting projects, technical teams, schedules/budgets, and the delivery of high-quality work products.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with Midwest federal, state, and local natural resource permitting agencies.
  • Ability to lead the delivery of projects, ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management, and good communication and collaboration between multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, planners, engineers, and other specialists.
  • Demonstrated experience with state and federal laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, urban planning, biology, ecology, geology, water resources, or similar discipline.
  • Experience in the environmental consulting industry is preferred, however, associated experience with environmental agencies and departmental roles with commercial entities may be considered equivalent.
  • Experience supporting and/or managing client development including identifying opportunities, developing and maintaining client relationships, and leading proposal development including the preparation of scope of work and project budgets.
  • Familiarity with field related project components including but not limited to wetland delineations, habitat reviews, construction oversight, stormwater compliance, and other similar tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate additional project services such as stormwater and erosion control planning, cultural resources, floodplain assessments, and civil engineering components.
  • Serve as the client point of contact during project delivery.
  • Be responsible for the overall technical, commercial, and financial performance of projects, including project management responsibilities for scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, change, and contracts.
  • Support and/or manage the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development and account leaders.
  • Leverage existing client relationships, support client account teams, and lead pursuits and proposal development.
