About The Position

Avid Core is seeking an Environmental Outreach Specialist with experience in environmental planning, infrastructure planning, and strategic stakeholder outreach for the federal government. This role involves supporting the environmental planning team in the planning and execution of large infrastructure projects, developing outreach materials, and reviewing technical documents and project schedules. The specialist will also be responsible for coordinating with federal, state, and local governments, maintaining project documentation, and preparing progress reports. Candidates should be able to manage multiple high-priority tasks, work independently and collaboratively, and possess strong problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of environmental planning documentation and requirements (National Environmental Policy Act, section 7 Endangered Species Act, section 106 National Historic Preservation Act, etc.) is required
  • Experience reviewing environmental and cultural survey documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel is a must
  • Ability to obtain a public trust clearance
  • Able to manage multiple high-priority tasks.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Able to manage and follow up on deadlines, as well as to identify and recommend solutions and next steps.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using GIS desired.
  • Proficiency with Power BI tools is a plus.
  • Experience with large infrastructure projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the environmental planning team in the planning and execution of large infrastructure projects.
  • Develop outreach material, such as talking points, presentations, memorandums, letters, website postings, and briefings.
  • Review project technical requirements and provide input on potential environmental sensitive resources and the strategy for federal, state, and local government outreach and communication.
  • Review environmental documents, including biological and cultural resource survey documents, and provide technical input and advice on strategy and next actions.
  • Review project schedule for multiple large infrastructure projects, to include key milestone dates, deadlines, consultation periods, internal/external review periods, meetings, and events.
  • Review and prepare coordination or consultation letters.
  • Schedule and attend meetings and prepare talking points and after-action reports detailing the meeting notes and action items.
  • Maintain a list of tracked action items and assist with the closure of those items.
  • Participate in project execution and construction calls to document environmental and stakeholder coordination actions.
  • Review Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and provide technical input and strategic approaches to minimize sensitive environmental and cultural resources.
  • Maintain project documentation files and track points of contact, and key activities.
  • Develop weekly and monthly progress reports detailing key project activities.
  • Provide acquisition support as needed including developing scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
