About The Position

JLL is seeking an Environmental Operations Lead for a premier technology client account in Poughkeepsie, NY. This role involves supervising, leading, and monitoring all environmental and industrial water treatment plant operations for the Mid-Hudson Valley. The position requires a balance of supervisory duties and active participation in billable project work, including shaping team strategy, overseeing complex projects, building client relationships, and mentoring staff. The Environmental Operations Lead will support daily operations, personnel management, regulatory compliance, and long-term planning of Environmental Compliance programs and the Industrial Water Treatment Plant. The successful candidate will collaborate with Facility management to ensure optimal operations and lead a team of Water Treatment Plant operators at client locations in Poughkeepsie, NY, and Yorktown Heights, NY. Candidates should be local to the Mid-Hudson Valley area with a strong background in industrial water treatment and demonstrated leadership abilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, civil engineering or related field
  • HSSE experience in corporate facilities, manufacturing, research, or maintenance operations
  • Ability to read and interpret building layouts, system drawings, and manufacturers' equipment specifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements; experience managing compliance and agency interactions
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations relating to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery/recycling
  • Emergency Response Team (ERT) experience including HAZWOPER
  • Effective time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely
  • Effective interpersonal communication across various organizational levels and with external customers and vendors
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and promote Company safety standards; demonstrated honesty and trustworthiness
  • Proven ability to provide excellent client service and collaborate positively with clients

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, expertise, and direction for IWTP plant operations; supervise staff performing general operations activities and handling customer issues or complaints; prioritize tasks, schedule and assign maintenance requests, ensure work completion on schedule, and establish clear performance expectations.
  • Collect, report, and track environmental monitoring at relevant locations; complete and maintain facility operating records; conduct storm water compliance inspections, sampling, reporting, and training in accordance with State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPEDES) Permit, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Industrial Storm Water General Permit (ISWGP) provisions.
  • Hire, train, deliver performance evaluations, and enforce discipline; verify and approve time; manage equipment, tools, chemicals, and technology; perform supervisory tasks for department personnel.
  • Participate in development and implementation of long-range plans, programs, and schedules; develop and implement budget and resource allocation; determine goals and objectives requiring emphasis; coordinate accurate management and oversight of all waste water treatment operations to ensure consistent and safe services.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and address issues with treatment, production, and delivery methods, equipment, and facilities; evaluate maintenance and treatment standards; troubleshoot equipment failures; perform audits and provide technical and mechanical direction.
  • Plan, control, supervise, and coordinate activities and evaluate work completion; participate in and conduct staff meetings to ensure equipment availability, reliability, and capacity in support of waste water and non-contact cooling water treatment activities.
  • Monitor and oversee IWTP performance to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; supervise chemical use and application; oversee laboratory analysis on plant samples; file necessary paperwork; optimize services and maintenance activities.
  • Identify and implement methods to improve production and effectiveness.
