About The Position

Environmental Manager-SES- 37020805 State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection Beaches - GIS Section This position is located in Tallahassee, FL Your Specific Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of this position is to spend majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees; and planning and directing employees’ work, and has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Team of GIS Analysts:
  • Assign Tasks, Projects & Manage Workload
  • Monitor and Evaluate Work Progress and Performance
  • Prepare and provide guidance and trainings; attendance and time management
  • Assist in the review, processing and management of program geospatial data:
  • Physical and biological monitoring data from beach renourishment projects.
  • Maintain the public Historic Shoreline Database.
  • Regulatory lines for CCCL, ECL and/or GPL surveys.
  • Post-Storm field damage assessment data.
  • Post-Storm aerial imagery and videography.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of complex survey forms for field data for the Beach Survey Services, Beach Field Service, Coastal Engineering and Geology programs.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of web map applications in ArcGIS Online.
  • Assist in the preparation and support of post-storm field data collection of field staff.
  • Assist in the calculation of beach dune volumetric changes and area changes in support of the Coastal Engineering and Geology Program.
  • Assist program staff and the public responding to GIS-related Public Data Requests.
  • Create and maintain guidance documents for data QA and data management processes.
  • Create and maintain inventory of Program’s received geospatial data.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and skills relevant to GIS and Program support.
  • Attend Program meetings and prepare periodic status reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
