SGS Anchorage is a full-service, ISO accredited laboratory analyzing a variety of matrices for environmental pollutants. This seasonal, full-time position in Anchorage, AK, is an hourly opportunity eligible for overtime pay. The role offers opportunities to advance scientific knowledge and gain non-academic laboratory experience by working in the only full-service environmental lab in Alaska. After extensive onboarding training, the technician will be placed in one or several departments, including Waters, Metals digestions, Organic Extractions, or Sample Control, with potential roles in VOA prep, TCLP, and WeighRoom.

Requirements

• Scientific knowledge from a BA/BS degree
• Strong work ethic (from Service and Retail positions)
• Expected to work overtime when workload requires

Responsibilities

• Work on bench chemistry methods, including colorimetric, gravimetric and potentiometric techniques (in Waters Department)
• Work with strong acids using HotBlock and AutoBlock techniques (in Metals digestions department)
• Work with Solid Phase, Liq/Liq and Horn Sonication techniques (in Organic Extractions department)
• Receive samples and log them into LIMS following the CoC (in Sample Control department)
• Prepare sample kits (in Sample Control department)
• Transfer samples throughout the whole laboratory (in Sample Control department)
• Potentially work in VOA prep, TCLP and WeighRoom
