About The Position

The Environmental Intern will join a team of scientists and consultants supporting environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for land development projects, including residential subdivisions, commercial sites, and mixed-use communities. Projects range from wetland delineations and threatened and endangered species assessments to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and stormwater permitting for developers, homebuilders, and municipalities. This position offers a direct opportunity to apply environmental science coursework to active land development projects. As an Environmental Intern, the selected candidate will learn to apply regulatory frameworks in the review of proposed development sites and will assist Senior Scientists in the preparation of field data, technical reports, and permitting documentation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Environmental Engineering, Science, Biology, or a related natural resources field.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, management, and project team members.
  • Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
  • Willingness to attend site visits and perform work in outdoor field conditions, including exposure to varying weather and terrain.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant industry experience through coursework, research projects, or prior internships in environmental consulting, ecology, or natural resource management.
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS, GPS field equipment, or environmental data management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field investigations including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Support preparation of permitting documentation.
  • Utilize GIS and GPS technology to map environmental features and compile field data for project deliverables.
  • Assist in reviewing site plans and development documents to identify environmental constraints affecting proposed land development projects.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and internal project teams to track permit status and support project schedules.
  • Travel to project sites to conduct field assessments and document existing environmental conditions.
