About The Position

This position's main function is to ensure that State and County environmental regulations are applied to maintain public health and the quality of the environment. It involves providing guidance, interpretation, implementation, and prioritization of Environmental Health objectives. Additionally, it offers basic supervision and direction to non-supervisory Environmental Health Specialist(s) and/or Trainees. This role will supervise, coordinate, and perform duties within one branch of the Permits & Plan Review Program.

Requirements

Possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Environmental Specialist from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.
Two years of experience performing inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations.
Possession of a Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.
U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Candidates may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
