About The Position

The main purpose of the Environmental Health Specialist Supervisor is to monitor and engage with the delegated programs from the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland Department of Health to the Talbot County Health Department's Office of Environmental Health. Programs include, but are not necessarily limited to the Well Program, Transient Non-Community Water Supply Program, Swimming Pools and Spas Program, Rabies Program, Beaches, and Short-Term Rental & Sanitary Survey Programs.

Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.
  • Two years of experience performing inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations.
  • Possession of a Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland (if assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle).
