About The Position

The EHS Specialist is responsible for overseeing various Health, Safety and Environmental programs at the company’s East Providence, RI location, which is regulated under OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements. The EHS Specialist will monitor operations to reduce hazards, will be well-versed in all OSHA regulations, and will focus on prevention. A keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential hazards is required to support a healthy and safe workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • RCRA (resource conservation and recovery act) trained and certified.
  • Contract Management Systems
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point applications.
  • Ability to be on call or work off hours as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills
  • Analytical problem solving, written and verbal communications.
  • Contribute to strong positive employee relations (internal customer service) at all levels within the organization.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI.

Responsibilities

  • Train employees on health and safety policies and best practices.
  • Implement programs, policies, and procedures that will reduce exposures, specific to injury prevention and reduction.
  • Conducting accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Serve as the lead on certain environmental, health and safety projects.
  • Conduct, coordinate and track various EHS training to support organizations EHS programs.
  • Oversee Contractor Management program
  • Interact with 3rd party suppliers and vendors that support the EHS programs.
  • Maintain internal and regulatory reporting including data collection and reporting including but not limited to air, storm water and surface water discharge.
  • Serve as secondary contact for all regulatory agencies for OSHA and EPA.
  • Stay informed of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
  • Take necessary steps to enhance a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Plant Managers, Supervisors, and production personnel.
  • Utilize corporate EHS management platform system for maintaining metrics and all information pertaining to EHS.
  • Conduct job hazard analysis, safety inspections and safety audits.
  • Provide MOC review for any chemical changes as it relates to industrial hygiene.
  • Support compliance measures related to the site’s Industrial Hygiene Plan.
  • Help to ensure that the facility stays in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate & support the facility’s hazardous waste program, including waste tracking, shipments and alike.
  • Support (where needed) equipment maintenance program includes scheduling routine maintenance or repairs as well as escorting vendors when onsite.
  • Assist with the implementation and on-going maintenance of EHS&S policies and associated procedures that help ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations and other requirements to which the company subscribes.
  • Assisting with (when requested) external regulatory inquiries.
  • Supporting all other EH&S directives as requested.
