About The Position

Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents. Our location in Santa Clara, CA, currently has an opportunity for an EHS Specialist. Working without appreciable supervision, leads and supports EHS programs and assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs/policies/practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and effective injury and illness prevention programs.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in related field is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience is typical for this position
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Solid leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Occupational Health, Engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence.
  • Previous internship experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • In support of site EHS team, coordinate and lead safety and health compliance activities, programs and prevention efforts.
  • Applies basic technical knowledge/skills to EHS programs and systems.
  • Support EHS programs in performing training, workplace incident investigations, inspections and internal audits as directed.
  • Support EHS programs in the management of hazardous waste activities as needed.
  • Develop and lead compliance training.
  • Review and maintain SDS database and site chemical inventories.
  • Supports EHS management in conducting reviews for facility modification, new product development, product modification and new equipment/machinery as directed.
  • On call for EHS emergencies (24/7).
  • Work under the direct supervision of the EHS Management, while independently working and solving day-to-day problems. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Supports EHS management in the maintenance of the facility’s Emergency Response and Fire Plans.
  • Supports EHS management in the gathering of data for the establishment of report metrics pertinent to EHS activities.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents and meetings with team members.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
