About The Position

The Plant EHS Specialist position implements, administers, and monitors company Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for the plant to ensure work conditions and practices meet all applicable regulations and policies. This position partners with Plant Leadership, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, HR, and Engineering to support safety compliance and continuous improvement on the plant floor.

Requirements

Deep understanding of current OSHA, EPA, and local EHS regulations within a manufacturing environment.
Strong ability to analyze data, review new processes, and inspect machinery for potential safety and environmental risks.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database tracking applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to and training plant floor employees.
Practical problem solver proficient in root cause analysis tools to implement effective solutions.
Provides occasional support for plant operations on weekends as part of the facility coverage rotation.
Partners with EHS peers at other sites to maintain consistent corporate safety standards.
Occasional travel may be required for regional meetings or corporate training.
4-year degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Risk Management Safety, or Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a safety position desired; manufacturing experience preferred.
Acceptable levels of performance and attendance must be consistently maintained, including attending all required meetings and events.
Requires the flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed.
Follows procedures to ensure all food quality standards are met or exceeded.
Must also produce quality work measured by efficiency, accuracy, and completion of both personal and company goals in a manner that embodies CM values and our culture of integrity, dignity, and respect.
Employees are required to conduct their work in a safe and legal manner, according to all GMP food safety standards as well as following any safety protocols.
Employees must be willing to be responsible for their safety and health as well as the safety and health of all employees, vendors, and visitors.

Responsibilities

Implements and maintains safety and health programs to eliminate workplace risks and hazards.
Tracks, maintains, and submits mandatory environmental records and regulatory compliance reporting.
Conducts daily and periodic safety inspections, hazard assessments, and facility compliance audits.
Delivers and tracks safety and occupational health training programs for all site employees.
Administers the accident reporting system and investigates incidents to identify root causes and mitigation steps.
Maintains plant records for occupational health, safety training logs, certifications, and environmental data.
Tracks and ensures the timely completion of corrective actions for identified unsafe conditions or audit findings.
Performs or coordinates evaluations of employee exposure to noise, dust, gases, and fumes.
Assists outside regulatory organizations during site audits and serves as a primary compliance contact.
Executes multi-layered risk predictions, conducts behavior observations, and delivers frequent safety communications.
