To establish and promote safe and healthy working conditions, and recommend measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards in compliance with Federal and State safety and health regulations. Provides primary care and management of occupational injuries and illnesses. Establish and maintain all Federal and State environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • BS in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience performing Environmental, Health and Safety responsibilities, preferably in Manufacturing or automotive industry.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Worker’s Compensation and case management is required.
  • Must be familiar and interpret Federal and State occupational health and safety regulations and be able to provide guidance to the plant and ensure compliance.
  • Must have experience in one or both ISO 14001 & 45001 auditing systems, or a minimum of 2 years in other ISO auditing systems.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, SDS, STD, HIPAA and related state and federal regulations required.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills required.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and present information to management, employees, and corporate personnel.
  • Must be able to interface with all departments.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement employee health and wellness programs to promote general health maintenance and safe, healthful work practices of all employees.
  • Conduct safety training with all new hires during orientation and provide ongoing training and education regarding safety policy and procedures.
  • Provide case management for injured employees between physicians, therapy treatment, and the insurance company.
  • Administers first aid care to employees using good judgment, methods and skills.
  • Performs First Responder duties during emergencies.
  • Maintain and responsible for all OSHA programs related to workers compensation, MSDS management, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain records of persons treated.
  • Serve as Chair of the Health & Safety Committee and is a backup to the Ergonomics Committee Chairman.
  • Responsible for all biohazard disposal and record keeping.
  • Enforce safety rules, policies, and procedures consistently, and respond to and investigate all reports of accidents, injuries, or job hazards in a timely manner.
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Management Representative, Working Group Member, and Auditor.
  • Ensure all employees have a safe environment in that all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.
  • Responsible for both internal and external environmental and safety inspections and audits along with action plans.
  • Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the Magna Employee Charter and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
