About The Position

Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for the maintenance of all UT Health assets, specifically fire alarm and suppression systems, ensuring compliance with all NFPA standards. The position also involves coordinating a comprehensive program for institutional compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in environmental health and safety or a related field.
  • Ability to multitask, manage shifting priorities and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to work in a construction/industrial environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Applied Science, Health or Environmental Science or equivalent experience is required.
  • None required with a bachelor's degree.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required without degree.
  • Valid Texas driver's license is required - must have a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Fire and Life Safety Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all UT Health fire and life safety systems.
  • Maintains program compliance with Joint Commission (JC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
  • Advises campus administration on relevant fire and life compliance standards across campus.
  • Assists in the development of standard operating procedures and other written guidelines.
  • Inspects, identifies, and corrects fire and life safety deficiencies to maintain systems' integrity and NFPA compliance.
  • Documents and follows up corrective actions to full completion.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
