Environmental, Health & Safety Leader
About The Position
Dauch is looking for an EHS Leader to join our team in Three Rivers, MI. This individual will provide support to EHS Manager in monitoring manufacturing environment and processes; implements procedures and practices that ensure safe work conditions. They will also assist in the creation, communication, and enforcement of standards and practices for handling dangerous materials. This person will assist in monitoring manufacturing practices and processes for environmental considerations; they will also assist in ensuring adherence to company policies, industry practices, and governmental regulations. They will assist in the process of preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from, an emergency.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1-3+ years of relevant experience in related field, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of regulatory safety and environmental standards; familiar with employment laws and regulations (OSHA, etc.).
- Experience with workers' compensation case management.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Investigates accidents, incidents, near misses, injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents according to established practices and procedures; prepares reports of findings, causes, and solutions; ensures timely completion of required reports and corporate reporting requirements.
- Implements education and training programs for good health and safety practices; coordinates annual hearing testing, medical evaluations, first aid and CPR training, fit testing, and other required testing.
- Conducts EHS inspections and follow-ups to monitor existing infrastructure and processes for compliance and potential risks or hazards and ensure conditions are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner. Partners with Operations and Maintenance to ensure adequate mechanical and physical equipment safeguards, inspections, and calibrations as required.
- Maintains accurate and confidential EHS records, reports, and documentation in compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, company policies, and audit requirements, providing documentation to internal or external auditors as needed.
- Coordinates activities and containment actions in the event of accidents.
- Conducts vulnerability assessments; creates, communicates, and implements emergency-management programs.
- Coordinates emergency-management activities with community, partners, and insurers.
- Implements effective emergency response action programs.
- Creates mechanisms for assessing and addressing risks or hazards to plant and transport personnel and environment.
- Conducts research and assessment of the proper use, selection, and limitations of major safeguarding devices.
- Evaluates potential health hazards or damage that could occur from misuse of products; engineers solutions to improve EHS.
- Collects and reviews data to develop safety system strategies.
- Collects and analyzes injury data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Provides support to plant manager or site leader in addressing EHS-related issues.
- Quotes, purchases, and allocates necessary items to ensure a safe working environment.
- Manages contracts related to safety and environmental systems and equipment.
- Coordinates with third party provider for workers' compensation claims.
- All other duties as assigned.
