About The Position

Individual experienced in the shipyard industry with a discipline in environmental, health and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the shipyard industry
  • 24 Hour and 8 Hour Shipyard Competent Person training
  • Possess thorough understanding of the EH&S requirements within the ship repair, in particular, the US Navy
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA
  • Must be able to access government installations
  • Must be able to walk at least 2 miles daily, crawl in tight spaces, and climb ladders and stairs without restriction
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds above head
  • Must pass an occupational physical, drug screen and respirator medical authorization test
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift and ability to work assigned overtime
  • OSHA 10 - Maritime, willingness to obtain through company-paid training

Responsibilities

  • Perform evaluation and testing in various environments including but not limited to noise, illumination, atmospheric conditions (confined spaces), ensuring proper working environments are established and maintained
  • Work with the Project Team to identify and eliminate potential hazards
  • Evaluates and coordinates the requirement for Marine Chemist required inspections
  • Maintain records on inspections and tests
  • Evaluate and document EH&S conditions on one or more projects through daily inspections
  • Ensure all hazardous material documentation is submitted and maintained on one or more projects
  • Coordinate hazardous waste disposal with facilities
  • Provide training to small groups
  • Actively participates in EH&S audits (internal and external)
