About The Position

Our client, a manufacturing organization in WNY, is looking to hire an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) / Facilities Manager to join their growing team. This role will lead and oversee all EHS programs, facilities maintenance, facility projects, preventative maintenance, and emergency response support while helping maintain a safe, efficient, and well-supported work environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ year in EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Industrial Hygiene, Applied Sciences, Engineering, or related; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Eligibility to be certified as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Strong organization skills, time management, and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail & accuracy
  • Analytical with sound judgement
  • Self-motivated, but collaborative and team oriented
  • Must be able to be on feet much of the day and walk around the facility regularly to ensure and enforce safety, assess risks, etc.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; Visa sponsorship is not available

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives to ensure employee safety and compliance with OSHA, EPA, Department of Labor, and applicable state regulations
  • Provide strategic EHS leadership and guidance to foster and maintain a proactive, safety-focused workplace culture
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS management systems, policies, procedures, training programs, and compliance documentation
  • Mentor, coach, and support managers, supervisors, and employees to enhance EHS awareness, accountability, and achievement of organizational safety objectives
  • Supervise and mentor maintenance personnel: Maintenance Mechanics, Maintenance Generalists, and Maintenance Custodians
  • Conduct facility audits, risk assessments, and workplace safety evaluations, implementing corrective actions and preventative measures to mitigate hazards and improve performance
  • Ensure adequate First Aid coverage and trained EHS representation across all facilities
  • Lead facility management projects, including space/capacity planning, building upgrades, and future expansion initiatives
  • Oversee the maintenance and reliability of buildings, grounds, utilities, mechanical systems, electrical infrastructure, backup systems, and site-wide facilities
  • Manage external vendors ensuring effective delivery of cleaning, security, waste management, and other facility-related services
  • Manage vendor contracts and resolve vendor-related issues by potentially sourcing new services
  • Coordinate and manage preventive maintenance programs and equipment repair activities to maximize equipment uptime and reliability
  • Support the commissioning and installation of new equipment by participating in design reviews and performing facility readiness planning to ensure successful implementation
  • Build strong working relationships across suppliers, customers, and departments throughout all facilities in an effort to promote collaboration and operational excellence
  • Utilize visual management tools to monitor project progress, track performance metrics, and drive problem-solving efforts
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven decision-making, KPI analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize resources, priorities, and outcomes
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and urgent facility or safety-related issues as required
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Other duties as assigned/as necessary
