About The Position

The Harmon Environmental Health & Safety Director is responsible for providing segment-wide leadership, strategy, governance, and accountability for safety, health, and environmental compliance across manufacturing facilities, field installation operations, and operational support groups. In partnership with Harmon operations and manufacturing leadership, this role drives a proactive, world-class safety culture that protects employees, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports operational excellence across all areas of the business, including curtainwall fabrication and field installation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 10+ years of construction or manufacturing experience required with a large matrixed company environment
  • 7+ years in EHS
  • 7+ years of management experience including training and development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Extensive industry knowledge
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and effective business partnering capabilities.
  • Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the Harmon safety vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap aligned with business objectives
  • Establish annual safety goals, KPIs, and leading and lagging indicators
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including behavior-based safety programs
  • Lead enterprise risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies across manufacturing and field environments
  • Integrate design-for-safety principles into engineering, fabrication, and installation processes
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations across all locations and job sites
  • Develop, implement, and maintain corporate safety policies, standards, and procedures
  • Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes
  • Lead enterprise audit and inspection programs across manufacturing sites and field operations
  • Maintain compliance programs
  • Establish and oversee plant protection and site safety/security programs
  • Drive leadership accountability and ownership of safety performance at all levels
  • Foster a proactive safety culture focused on hazard recognition, prevention, and employee engagement
  • Work with Territory regional superintendents, foster, support, train, to build a world class safety program on our jobsites.
  • Engage as needed with General Contractor Safety leaders to build peer-to-peer relationships on jobsites, for an engaging safety program that works for both Harmon and the GC.
  • Develop Safety leaders
  • Review current org structure with Safety Reps and provide better or updated role clarity for that position
  • Lead enterprise safety communications, engagement strategies, and cultural transformation initiatives
  • Review and evaluate safety performance across manufacturing facilities and field projects
  • Analyze trends, leading indicators, and incident data to reduce risk and prevent injuries
  • Standardize safety reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics
  • Escalate significant risks and incidents to executive leadership
  • Benchmark and implement industry best practices to continuously improve safety performance
  • Establish enterprise-wide safety training standards for plant, operations Project Managers and field employees
  • Ensure comprehensive onboarding safety programs for all new hires and Harmon Hired subcontractors
  • Oversee task-specific training
  • Develop leadership safety competency programs and ongoing training requirements
  • Provide leadership for budget development to support EHS business objectives.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and hazard assessments across all locations
  • Support environmental and sustainability initiatives
  • Provide leadership across multiple sites and ensure consistency of EHS systems
