About The Position

The Environmental, Health, & Safety Coordinator will maintain a daily presence on the production floor, building trust and visibility with operators. This role involves leading near-miss reporting, managing the “Be Aware, Take Care” program, conducting safety observations, and reinforcing housekeeping standards. The coordinator will also support risk assessments, develop and execute accident investigations, implement site-specific safety programs, and ensure comprehensive HS training for employees, contractors, and vendors. Additionally, the role requires managing regulatory compliance, permit applications, and reporting for EPA/RCRA, DOT, and local/state agencies, as well as tracking and reporting on various HS metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Utah and South Salt Lake regulatory requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust with hourly operators and supervisors.
  • Action-oriented mindset focused on engagement and results—not bureaucracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Safety certification preferred: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Safety & Health Manager (CSHM)
  • Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., Velocity, Enhesa Compliance) is a plus.
  • Spanish communication skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a daily presence on the production floor, building trust and visibility with operators.
  • Lead near-miss reporting, including investigation, follow-up, and closure of corrective actions.
  • Manage the “Be Aware, Take Care” program, promoting active employee participation, daily hazard reviews, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct safety observations and provide real-time coaching to reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Reinforce housekeeping standards and visual management practices across the site.
  • Support and lead risk assessments and hazard identification activities.
  • Develop, review, and execute accident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and safety alerts.
  • Implement site-specific safety programs, emergency response plans, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive HS training and onboarding for: Employees, Contractors, Vendors.
  • Ensure training emphasizes regulatory requirements, safe work practices, and site-specific hazards.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, permit applications, and required documentation to maintain compliance with: EPA / RCRA, DOT, Local and state agencies.
  • Participate in reviews and approvals of: New chemicals introduced to the site, Capital projects impacting HS or environmental compliance.
  • Track, analyze, and report HS metrics, including: Incident and injury rates, Waste generation, Compliance performance, Leading and lagging safety indicators.
