About The Position

Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting an Environmental Health Physicist (3885) in Idaho Falls, ID. The Environmental Health Physicist applies scientific principles, theories, and concepts to support mission objectives for the Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP), with specific emphasis on the Calcine Disposition Project. This position provides technical support for regulatory-driven project activities and the development of technical documentation required in accordance with DOE orders, federal regulations, and project requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience applying scientific and engineering principles in: Site characterization and environmental remediation, Dose and risk assessments, Multi-media transport modeling, Radiological analysis, Disposal site performance assessments, Facility design, construction, and closure.
US citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience preparing documentation in accordance with DOE O 435.1, RCRA, and CERCLA requirements.
Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, including DOE, Idaho DEQ, U.S. EPA, Tribal Nations, and public stakeholders.
Familiarity with DOE standards, particularly DOE O 413.3B and associated project documentation requirements.
Prior experience working at a DOE facility and knowledge of DOE orders and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for the development and production of primary and secondary technical documents required under NEPA, RCRA, CERCLA, and DOE orders, including DOE O 435.1.
Develop and publish engineering and technical documentation, including engineering design files, annual reports, and conceptual site models by evaluating data and presenting results, conclusions, and recommendations.
Support development of project documentation in accordance with DOE standards, including DOE O 413.3B.
Contribute to the development of project scope, schedule, and budget.
Ensure cost-effective solutions are developed in compliance with applicable standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Participate in technical meetings to ensure analyses and project activities meet regulatory and operational requirements.
Collaborate with project management, technical staff, DOE representatives, and external stakeholders to address technical and regulatory comments and resolve complex issues.
Provide support for design testing, operations, scientific analyses, document reviews, and field activities for ICP and related projects as assigned.
Perform additional support activities, analyses, and reviews as required.
Comply with all applicable health and safety requirements and demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and reporting protocols.
Adhere to environmental, safety, health, and pollution prevention regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ensure personal safety and the safety of coworkers and report unsafe conditions as required.
Apply Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles and support operational excellence through proper conduct of operations.
