About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is critical to the safety and well-being of Fanatics Associates, serving as a strategic partner across all departments to ensure environmental health and safety aspects meet Fanatics standards and all governing body requirements. This role leads safety committees, first responder teams, incident investigations, and compliance audits while developing and implementing hazard controls that protect every associate on the floor. The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist delivers business and fan impact through BOLD leadership and execution excellence, leveraging data, automation, and AI-enabled insights.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of applicable experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety role, with demonstrated ability to implement safety controls in an operations or fulfillment environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and the ability to apply regulatory requirements to facility-specific policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to conduct hazard assessments, root cause analyses, and incident investigations, including use of structured methodologies such as 5 Why.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver effective safety training and present metrics to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, documentation, and data tracking.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Availability to respond to facility-related emergencies and willingness to work non-regular hours as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site's Safety Committee as chair and serve as a resource and advocate for associate members, ensuring active participation and meaningful outcomes.
  • Lead the site's First Responder team, maintaining compliance with all required certifications and ensuring team readiness for facility emergencies.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Human Resources, operations, and department leadership to align safety priorities, manage workers' compensation claims, and drive consistent policy adherence.
  • Drive a safety-first mindset across the facility by inspiring associates at all levels to embrace a culture of accountability and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all governmental or outside safety inspections, representing Fanatics Commerce with professionalism and preparedness.
  • Participate in local community safety councils or committees as a representative of the facility, reinforcing Fanatics' commitment to responsible operations.
  • Provide or facilitate immediate aid for associates, visitors, vendors, or guests requiring assistance or medical attention.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and unsafe practices through daily, weekly, and monthly facility audits; develop and implement controls to reduce associate exposure.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations using the 5 Why methodology; compile, analyze, and interpret findings and track corrective action implementation to closure.
  • Conduct risk assessments for current job functions and new equipment introductions, recommending ergonomic and safety mitigation measures to management.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control systems and procedures, recommending improvements that strengthen overall safety performance.
  • Ensure all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards, and codes are observed at all times, proactively communicating compliance issues and risks to management.
  • Maintain and report daily, weekly, and monthly safety metrics for presentation within the facility and across the broader network.
  • Maintain the 5S database and conduct weekly 5S audits across all facility areas; perform general housekeeping and departmental Six Sigma activities.
  • Conduct associate training on OSHA-required topics and Fanatics SOPs, coaching work habits that reflect both regulatory requirements and company safety policies.
