About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at Indiana Automotive Fasteners, Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for managing environmental compliance programs at a manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and serves as the facility's primary resource for environmental permitting, reporting, inspections, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, and hazardous waste.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before team members, peers and management of the organization.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometric functions.
  • Ability to draw inferences, reach conclusions, arrive at solutions, and make decisions based on available evidence.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies preferred.
  • ISO 14001 experience preferred.
  • Japanese as a second language is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility compliance with EPA, IDEM, and applicable local environmental regulations.
  • Manage environmental permits, including air permits, stormwater permits, and other applicable regulatory permits.
  • Prepare and submit environmental regulatory reports such as Tier II, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), and emissions reports.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs in accordance with RCRA regulations, including storage, labeling, manifesting, and vendor coordination.
  • Conduct internal environmental compliance inspections and audits.
  • Serve as primary point of contact during environmental regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain environmental records and compliance documentation.
  • Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO14002 Environmental Management System requirements.
  • Support environmental incidents, including spills, releases, and corrective actions.
