Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive EHS experience
  • 3+ years owning multi-site programs
  • Deep working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 (general industry)
  • Deep working knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping
  • Deep working knowledge of multi-state and state-plan compliance
  • Hands-on experience with workers' compensation claims management and EMR improvement
  • Experience writing and running emergency action and disaster preparedness plans
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
  • Comfortable being a department of one
  • Comfortable influencing without authority
  • Comfortable executing through branch leadership
  • Willing to travel ~40% across the U.S. branch network
  • Willing to respond to serious incidents

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive, fleet, rental, logistics, or aviation ground operations experience is strongly preferred
  • Hurricane-region experience
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP is strongly preferred
  • CHMM or CIH a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus for frontline training delivery

Responsibilities

  • Build and own SIXT US’s EHS management system, including written programs, policies, and standards for branches, service bays, and fueling/detailing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal OSHA and state-plan requirements (including Cal/OSHA) across all U.S. locations, owning OSHA 300/300A recordkeeping, electronic submission, and posting.
  • Own environmental compliance across the network: used oil/fluids, refrigerants, stormwater, spill prevention (SPCC), and waste management.
  • Establish technician safety programs covering automotive lift inspection (ALI/ANSI), lockout/tagout, hazard communication, PPE, and EV high-voltage safety.
  • Manage the workers' compensation program with HR and the carrier/TPA, including claims reviews, return-to-work coordination, and an EMR reduction strategy.
  • Develop site emergency action and disaster plans (hurricane, tornado, wildfire, winter weather) including employee protection, drills, and business continuity coordination.
  • Build and deliver the safety training matrix with tracked completion to ≥95%.
  • Run a scored branch safety audit program and report EHS KPIs to U.S. leadership monthly.
  • Qualify contractors and vendors for on-site safety.
  • Align with SIXT SE group standards and ESG reporting.
