About The Position

Environmental Health and Safety Safety Manager REPORTS TO: Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager FLSA STATUS: Salary Exempt KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS: Assure Genpak facilities comply with applicable city, state and federal environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, and standards. Assist in incident investigations and injury management. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections, as needed, to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Assist in the development of controls for identified hazards. Coordinate the implementation of controls. Conduct safety committee meetings. Follow up with safety committees. Review injury and property damage reports. Compile and analyze incident data. Prepare recommendations for corrective actions to eliminate or minimize potential hazards. Recommend the purchase of Genpak approved safety equipment and supplies, as needed. Assist with Environmental Management Information System- EMIS and TIER 11 reporting. Perform other related duties that correspond to the overall function of this position. Assures employees are trained, assessed, and licensed for pieces of equipment. Review and file all accident / incident reports and initiates investigations if necessary. Mains & updates the Company Safety Policy Manual. Ensures Company safety polices/procedures are followed. Keeps current SDS records on file. Weekly/Daily safety walk-through and audits. Develop action plans with deadlines for each action. Be familiar with OSHA regulations and ensure that all regulations are implemented in the plant. Conduct annual reviews of complete safety program and procedures per OSHA regulations. New hire orientation and training for all new employees. Ensure that all first aid kits and eye-wash stations are stocked properly. Must be self-directed. Ability to make sound decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years Safety and Health experience.
  • Must have knowledge of elements of OSHA and EPA as well as the ability to understand and communicate city, county, state and other federal regulations and guidelines, as needed.
  • OSHA 10
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of delivering hands on environmental, safety and health training.
  • Must work well with all employees.
  • Must work well with management at all levels in the company.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have ability to travel 10%.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 a plus
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) a plus.
