About The Position

The Environmental Health Safety Lead (OSHA Inspector) monitors, evaluates and executes audits of assigned operations to ensure compliance with customer EHS policies, processes, and procedures. Ensures the collection of EHS data and analyses of that data to identify trends and monitor the effectiveness of the EHS programs. Plan the Monthly Inspection and Evaluation Schedule and publish the plan on a quarterly basis. Performs internal and external audits to ensure compliance with established and applicable environmental, health and safety rules and governmental regulations. Conducts quality and safety inspections/audits of contract operations and subcontractors to ensure compliance with customer policies, procedures, standards and regulations. Conducts injury and accident investigations and determines root causes and corrective actions. Responds to customer complaints as required. Review incoming technical publications and directives for applicability. Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of quality control plans and quality management practices and processes to carry out performance requirements and ensure contractual requirements are met.
  • Working knowledge and experience implementing Environmental, Health and Safety programs.
  • Experience in conducting aviation mishaps and injury investigations.
  • Knowledge in Root Cause analysis and implementing Corrective Actions.
  • Working knowledge of military quality practices.
  • Fluent in English, both speaking and writing.
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of AS 9110 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in any combination in the following areas: Quality Assurance, Environmental, Health, Safety operations.
  • OSHA Safety Certificate in General Safety
  • Quality management experience in an aviation maintenance organization.
  • Aviation Safety Official or equivalent desirable.
  • Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, planning, quality control and supervisory policies, principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations and requirements in a DOD environment.
  • Ability to develop and present senior staff-level briefings and management reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Safety standards and general experience in dealing with environmental issues.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
  • Must be able to grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and ear over telephone.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depths.
  • May be required to lift objects whose weight may not exceed 50 pounds.

  • Aviation Safety Official or equivalent desirable.
