Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist Location: Centerville, Iowa What we’re looking for: The EHS Specialist will partner with the site operations team to help drive safety as a core value. The EHS Specialist will work under the direction of the EHS Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or in lieu of education minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong Communication and Presentation skills
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point

Nice To Haves

  • Previous EHS experience in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Training
  • Knowledge of safety (OSHA, NFPA & ANSI) and environmental (EPA) regulations
  • Ability to contribute and participate in a team environment
  • Ability to accomplish assigned tasks, provide feedback, construct plans, and demonstrate confidence in team leader and member roles.
  • Experience in Enablon or other EHS platforms
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 regulatory requirements
  • Experience in coaching, training, networking and facilitation

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to the plant EHS Manager and plant staff: investigate, recognize, report, and recommend corrective actions on safety and environmental compliance issues
  • Communicate safety priorities, regulatory updates, and corrective actions clearly and consistently across the facility
  • Coordinate with supervisors and shop floor personnel to engage in daily safety discussions
  • Conduct daily Gemba walks
  • Assist with incident investigations
  • Learn, read, understand, and communicate EHS regulatory requirements
  • Develop and deliver clear, effective EHS training to employees in alignment with OSHA requirements and company policies
  • Audit and maintain systems to ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental programs of facility
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety and environmental compliance
  • Support OSHA compliance inspections
  • Perform other duties as assigned
