The role of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is to support the EHS functions within our BETA Facilities. This position focuses on assisting the Team with managing the EHS requirements of our team members for Beta Technologies.

Requirements

  • Must have a positive and thoughtful approach to delivering our safety message.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current training on OSHA requirements for general industry.
  • Current training/knowledge on RCRA requirements.
  • Minimum of 3 years in environmental, health and safety.
  • Must maintain a high level of technical knowledge by continuing education and certificate programs to keep current with regulation changes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate within the organization's software and email programs.
  • High energy, self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and outside-of-the-box thinking are highly desirable.
  • Must have a valid driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Environmental Waste Compliance program.
  • Assist with managing the chemical safety program throughout BETA.
  • Evaluate work processes to identify and mitigate existing and potential hazards.
  • Perform weekly health and safety audits of our Vermont and Plattsburgh, NY locations.
  • Has proficient knowledge of federal, state and local regulations to include but not limited to EPA, DEC, OSHA, NFPA and ANSI to provide guidance to team members.
  • Support teams with completing job hazard analyses, including focus on ergonomics.
  • Actively participate in Safety Committee.
  • Support EHS Team in other related areas as needed.
  • Provide and document observations of safe and unsafe work practices as well as unsafe work conditions.
  • Ability to be mobile for over 50% of the workday and commute to multiple facilities.
