About The Position

The EHS Coordinator collaborates with the plant to assure compliance with all Safety regulations and policies are current, in use and enforced. This position will assist the organization by providing support to the Technical Manager by completing safety audits and training activities as assigned and work with other employees to complete assigned tasks, aiming at reducing the overall risks for the organization. Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.

Requirements

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. A degree in safety, Safety and Environmental Management preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in managing safety, health, and environment issues and conducting accident investigations.
  • Must have working knowledge of Federal OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Experience in ISO 14001 and/or 18001 preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the development and facilitation of training classes.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
  • Must be able to act independently within the scope of Company safety objectives.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and maintain in good standing.
  • This position requires the ability to travel at least 50% of the time within the assigned territory.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.

Responsibilities

  • Must maintain and improve upon existing safety and health related programs and activities
  • Identify and abate hazardous conditions or actions at plants that may cause injury, illness or property damage.
  • Advises plant management when to establish changes in safety objectives and plan programs to achieve objectives and integrate safety into the culture of the organization.
  • Assist the North America S3P locations in managing safety programs, planning, organizing, training and tracking execution of activities to achieve safety objectives or to implement administrative or technical controls that will eliminate or reduce hazards.
  • Support the plant leadership in meeting their safety obligations
  • Conduct EHS audits at London, OH and Mooresville, NC S3P facilities.
  • Ensure that mandatory safety and health standards are satisfied.
  • Maintain online EHS tracking system.
  • Work with plant management to control hazards such as noise, chemical exposures, or biological hazards that can create harm.
  • Ensure that any dangerous chemicals and other products are procured, stored, and disposed of in ways that prevent fires, exposure to or harm from these substances.
  • Ensure that there are procedures in place to protect from any undesirable releases of harmful materials into the air, water or soil.
  • Perform accident investigations to determine the facts related to an accident or incident based on witness interviews, site inspections and collection of other evidence, and report findings to EHS Application system on Intranet. Take necessary actions to eliminate hazard or unsafe work procedure in the future.
  • Organize, train and coordinate skilled employees with regard to emergencies such as fires, accidents, rescues, natural disasters, first aid, CPR or other incidents.
  • Attend training sessions, seminars, etc. to keep abreast of new or changing regulations.
  • Must work in a manner consistent with the EMS.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.
  • May have access to proprietary and third party information necessary to the business and as such will perform duties in an ethical and professional manner
