About The Position

Join the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) as an Environmental Group Manager and support a team dedicated to safeguarding natural resources! You will lead staff who monitor conditions, enforce environmental laws, and collaborate with partners across the region. This role oversees a team that manages conservation, restoration, inspection, and compliance work for waterways, wetlands, agriculture, and related environmental programs. It requires coordination across multiple offices, consistent communication, and strong leadership in program operations.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; and five years of professional environmental protection experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a REAL ID or passport.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure staff stay informed about policies, initiatives, and guidance that support effective work
• Work with multiple offices to maintain consistency in waterways, wetlands, and agricultural programs
• Guide staff as they conduct inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities across assigned programs
• Use and ensure staff use DEP databases to record information accurately and promptly
• Provide information to officials, regulated entities, and community groups as needed
• Assign tasks, review work, handle personnel matters, and support professional development for staff
