About The Position

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking a motivated Environmental Geologist or Engineer to join their growing Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania office. This role offers the opportunity to build a consulting career while working alongside respected experts in site investigation and remediation. The position involves meaningful projects throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the surrounding region, including environmental site investigations, remediation, construction oversight, data management, and environmental compliance. The individual will work under the guidance of Project Managers and Principals, gaining direct experience in the field and office, and developing essential technical, regulatory, communication, and project delivery skills for long-term growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant environmental consulting experience, including field investigation, site remediation, permitting, construction management, or related work.
  • Experience with Pennsylvania and New Jersey environmental regulations.
  • Strong interest in safety and ability to follow GZA Health and Safety programs, policies, and procedures during on-site activities.
  • Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, organizational, and data management skills.
  • Ability to balance field and office responsibilities with independence, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Experience preparing clear technical documentation, including field notes, figures, tables, report sections, and permit-related materials.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher status preferred.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification preferred.
  • AutoCAD, ArcGIS, gINT, or other technical software experience is a plus.
  • Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher status preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outdoor, all-season field tasks, including drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, soil vapor sampling, stormwater sampling, construction oversight, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Monitor and document field activities associated with investigation, remediation, and construction projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Conduct technical analyses and calculations, and assist with the interpretation of environmental data.
  • Prepare field documentation, data tables, figures, technical memoranda, report sections, work plans, and permit application materials.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Principals, subcontractors, laboratories, and other project team members to support safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Contribute to GZA’s collaborative One Company culture by supporting multidisciplinary projects and teams across practice areas and locations.
