About The Position

Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Floor Technician (ENV FLOOR TECH) to join our Environmental Services team on a Full-Time/Regular basis. As a vital member of our healthcare facility, the Environmental Floor Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic integrity of all flooring surfaces throughout the hospital and associated healthcare facilities. In this role, the Environmental Floor Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of floor care duties that ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The technician will operate and maintain various floor care equipment including automatic scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and wet/dry vacuums. Daily responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and burnishing hard surface floors, as well as vacuuming, spot cleaning, and shampooing carpeted areas throughout the facility. The ENV FLOOR TECH will follow established infection control protocols and adhere strictly to all Joint Commission standards and healthcare environmental services guidelines. The technician must demonstrate a thorough understanding of chemical usage, dilution ratios, and safety data sheets (SDS) to ensure the safe handling and application of cleaning agents and floor care products. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times. Additional responsibilities include reporting maintenance issues, damaged flooring, or safety hazards to supervisors promptly, maintaining accurate logs of completed tasks, and restocking supply carts as needed. The technician must be able to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as healthcare facilities operate around the clock. Physical stamina is essential, as the role requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, and the ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
