About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician. This position reports to Melville, NY and will support work in Long Island, the five boroughs of New York City, upstate New York, and New Jersey. The Environmental Field Technician will assist in the environmental field services for several different clients. Typical activities will include surface and groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, soil remediation oversight, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, and subcontractor oversight. The ideal candidate will have environmental site investigation and monitoring experience and strong ability to communicate effectively with project teams both verbally and through written field work documentation. Candidates local to Long Island are preferred as this position will require field work and occasionally reporting to field offices for meetings and picking up equipment and materials. This Environmental Field Technician position sits within the larger Global Resilience Business Area. Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working as an environmental field technician or in a similar role.
  • Ability to read, understand, and complete scopes of work with limited supervision.
  • Familiarity with environmental standards, remedial systems, and related practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year environmental field experience
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree, bachelor’s degree, or Trade School Certificate/Diploma
  • TWIC Card, DOT HazMat Shipping training
  • 10 Hour OSHA Construction Safety training
  • Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP) experience

Responsibilities

  • Groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling
  • Implementation of various field activities including permit compliance sampling and activities, monitoring well development and repair, waste management, etc.
  • Remediation system operation, maintenance, and monitoring
  • Site Inspections
  • Oversight of subcontractors to perform selected operations
  • Remedial action field support such as in-situ injection and source removal activities
