As an Environmental Field Technician, you'll be an essential member of our team, supporting scientists and engineers on projects ranging from land redevelopment and electric utilities to environmental remediation and landfill management. No prior experience with specialized equipment? No problem—comprehensive training in GIS software, monitoring tools, and field safety procedures is provided. Most of your work will be outside, sometimes in tough conditions like heat, humidity, or dense vegetation, and you'll have the opportunity to travel throughout the tri-county area, including Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Requirements

  • Associate in science degree or active enrollment in an environmental Bachelor of Science accredited program preferred.
  • Ability to learn and follow technical protocols and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in adverse conditions including lifting to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform periodic site maintenance and upkeep via mowing, brush hog, and/or weed trimmer.
  • Ability to implement strong communication and note taking skills is required, including good handwriting.
  • Detail-oriented and exhibits solid judgment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site reconnaissance surveying using GIS software and hand-held devices.
  • Oversee monitoring well drilling.
  • Conduct groundwater sampling.
  • Oversee advancement of soil borings.
  • Collect soil samples.
  • Conduct air monitoring.
  • Monitor gas vapor systems.
  • Maintain mechanical field equipment.
  • Perform construction quality assurance.
  • Prepare field notes and environmental sampling log documentation.
  • Perform equipment calibrations and maintain equipment calibration logs.
  • Adhere to SCS engineering, construction, and O&M policies and procedures.
  • Perform all work in accordance with SCS’s Health and Safety Program.
