About The Position

Chemists work in the field on customer locations conducting both chemical management/packaging/disposal services for hazardous and non-hazardous materials. This role involves conducting routine inspection/audit services to assess customers’ compliance with hazmat storage, waste management, and occupational safety regulations. The position also includes handling, classifying, segregating, labeling, and packaging hazardous and non-hazardous materials according to Federal and State regulations, training laboratory/production staff, responding to emergency chemical spills, preparing shipping documents, and performing consolidation of hazardous materials/waste.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a commercial driver’s license within 90 days of employment
  • Must be willing and able to wear and safely use all levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) including air-purifying respirators
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening
  • Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers
  • Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hazardous waste classification, lab pack segregation, and waste handling preferred
  • Working Knowledge of applicable DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducting routine inspection/audit services to assess customers’ compliance with hazmat storage, waste management, and occupational safety regulations.
  • Handling, classifying, segregating, labeling, and packaging hazardous and non-hazardous materials according to Federal and State regulations.
  • Training laboratory/production staff to understand proper chemical handling/storage techniques and relevant environmental laws.
  • Responding to emergency chemical spills and performing cleanup duties.
  • Preparing shipping documents and coordinating transportation of chemical products and hazardous waste materials to and from customer sites.
  • Performing consolidation of hazardous materials/waste (i.e., bulking, repackaging).
  • Providing expert knowledge on government regulations, health and safety practices, and proper disposal methods to customers.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
