About The Position

Big West Oil's Internship program is a structured summer internship opportunity for current full-time university students. You will gain hands-on experience in your area of study and receive directed mentorship while under the guidance of seasoned professionals. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year university, pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Junior or Senior standing preferred, all others welcome).
  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Strong academic background in core engineering principles and problem-solving.
  • Interest in refining, process systems, or energy-related industries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent observational and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection and analysis of environmental data, including air emissions, water discharge, and waste management records.
  • Support engineers in preparing and submitting environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Help conduct environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Contribute to projects focused on reducing the refinery's environmental footprint, such as energy efficiency or waste management initiatives.
  • Participate in investigations related to environmental incidents and help develop corrective action plans.
