About The Position

Koch Fertilizer is seeking an Environmental Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2027 in Dodge City, Kansas! At Koch, we believe in empowering the next generation of talent. As an Environmental Engineering Intern with Koch Fertilizer, you’ll work alongside our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives at our facility. This hands-on role offers an opportunity to gain exposure to environmental regulations, data analysis, and compliance management across multiple programs — including the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC).

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program or alternative education program (e.g., 4-year college program, 2-year technical college, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.) in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • Eligible for full-time employment on or before Summer 2029.
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or project experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with major environmental regulations (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA).
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel or other tools for data tracking and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental compliance programs and regulatory initiatives by assisting with permit reviews, reporting, documentation, and environmental assessments.
  • Analyze environmental data and develop tools that improve reporting, compliance tracking, and decision-making.
  • Perform engineering calculations and support regulatory reviews related to air emissions, wastewater, waste management, and other environmental programs.
  • Participate in environmental sampling, inspections, audits, and monitoring activities to help verify compliance and environmental performance.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects that reduce risk and enhance environmental systems.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and EHS teams on projects that balance field experience with engineering analysis and problem-solving.
