About The Position

CDM Smith is looking for an Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineering Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience working on real-world water and infrastructure projects. As a member of our team, you’ll work alongside industry-leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of municipal, federal, and industrial projects. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, fellow interns, and multidisciplinary project teams while gaining exposure to different areas of engineering and project delivery. This internship offers the opportunity to turn classroom knowledge into practical engineering experience while learning from experienced professionals and contributing to projects that improve communities and support a more sustainable future.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.
• An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate engineering solutions to support project analyses, reporting, and design.
• Assist with the development of engineering calculations, technical reports, project documentation, and presentations.
• Gain hands-on experience using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
• Work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to support project deliverables and solve engineering challenges.
• Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to client and project interactions.
• Assist with fieldwork and construction management activities, providing a firsthand look at projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Build your professional network while developing technical skills that complement your academic experience.
