The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District provides comprehensive wastewater and storm water management services to residents and businesses in both St. Louis City and County. Responsibilities

Investigate environmental complaints and related problems to determine cause and secure corrective action, and write reports summarizing the work performed.
Conduct or oversee field analyses and sampling, utilizing field sampling and testing equipment and techniques.
Inspect facilities that discharge stormwater and wastewater to MSD and perform follow up activities to address user questions, violations, or problems.
Assist in the identification of industries to be added to the District's databases.
Send and process industry questionnaires and other required industry reports.
Inspect hauled waste delivery documents and wastewater quality.
Respond to emergency sewage bypasses and hazard material discharges, and initiate remedial action to minimize environmental impact.
Make required reports to MDNR.
Inspect natural watercourses and storm sewers for illicit discharges, water quality problems, and unsatisfactory conditions.
Initiate enforcement actions, such as Notices of Violations; develop and maintain other files and records, as needed.
Performs related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.
