About The Position

The Environmental Engineer is responsible for providing environmental engineering expertise and technical support to ensure regulatory compliance and effective environmental management at the Gallatin, TN facility. This role leads environmental initiatives, promotes sustainability, and ensures adherence to all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and company standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 3–5 years of environmental experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of environmental permitting, reporting, and recordkeeping
  • Familiarity with regulatory agencies and standards, including: OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), DOT (Department of Transportation), ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
  • Experience managing hazardous waste programs and environmental compliance systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • High energy, self-motivated, and results-oriented
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental engineering and technical support for compliance, control systems, planning, and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of new and emerging environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Review, maintain, and manage all environmental permits, records, and documentation.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze environmental performance metrics.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve environmental issues impacting operations.
  • Lead environmental efforts for the Gallatin facility to support sustainable operations.
  • Serve as the primary site representative during regulatory inspections.
  • Act as the main point of contact for environmental consultants, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate and coordinate with environmental agencies regarding permits, compliance matters, and enforcement actions.
  • Support negotiations related to compliance issues and regulatory matters.
  • Manage the site’s hazardous waste program in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate disposal of hazardous waste and oversee spill response and cleanup efforts.
  • Maintain all legally required hazardous waste documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure annual hazardous waste training is completed and documented.
  • Direct and train personnel who handle hazardous materials and ensure proper certification.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure training aligns with regulatory requirements, ISO 14001 standards, and company policies.
  • Promote environmental awareness, compliance, and best practices across the organization.
  • Lead environmental-related projects, including equipment, systems, and training initiatives.
  • Request quotes, secure approvals, and manage procurement related to environmental needs.
  • Support emergency response planning and ensure alignment with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Assist plant leadership in maintaining positive community relationships related to environmental compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement through incident prevention and environmental best practices.
  • Collaborate with plant management and cross-functional teams to support environmental goals.
  • Assist in developing short- and long-term environmental objectives and budgets.
  • Ensure company values, policies, and environmental programs are consistently followed.
  • Identify training and development needs for employees related to environmental compliance.
