About The Position

Arcosa Lightweight is searching for an Environmental Engineer in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. In this role you will support a positive safety culture staff within two 24/7 Lightweight Aggregate operations that is regulated by MSHA safety standards. The Environmental Engineer will coordinate, direct and maintain all environmental systems to ensure continued compliance with Corporate and Governmental standards. This position develops and implements programs to prevent and solve environmental problems and works in close conjunction with the plant operations teams. Arcosa Lightweight is a leading producer and distributor in the Western and Southwestern U.S. of expanded shale and clay lightweight aggregate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or related technical discipline.
  • 0–5 years of environmental compliance experience, including internships, co-ops, consulting, manufacturing, mining, construction materials, industrial operations, or related industries.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Streetman, TX facility.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50% to support environmental activities at other Arcosa Lightweight operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in manufacturing, aggregates, mining, cement, construction materials, energy, chemical, or industrial operations.
  • Experience supporting environmental reporting programs such as Emissions Inventory, GHG Reporting, Tier II Reporting, and TRI Reporting.
  • Familiarity with Air Quality Programs, Title V Air Permits, RCRA, SPCC, and SWPPP/NPDES Programs.
  • Experience supporting environmental audits and regulatory inspections.
  • OSHA or MSHA training.
  • Experience using environmental databases, reporting systems, GIS, Power BI, or data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental compliance programs related to air quality, stormwater, wastewater, waste management, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Conduct routine environmental inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Assist with regulatory agency inspections and environmental audits.
  • Maintain environmental permits, records, and compliance documentation.
  • Support development and implementation of environmental procedures and best practices.
  • Assist with preparation of environmental reports and regulatory submissions including Emissions Inventories, GHG Reporting, Tier II Reporting, TRI Reporting, and Compliance Certifications.
  • Support air quality compliance activities and environmental data collection.
  • Assist with emissions tracking and environmental recordkeeping.
  • Support environmental compliance calendars and reporting schedules.
  • Gain exposure to Title V air permitting requirements and permit compliance programs.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze environmental data.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and compliance documentation.
  • Track environmental performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize Excel and other software tools to analyze and communicate environmental information.
  • Conduct environmental field inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Participate in environmental sampling and monitoring activities.
  • Investigate environmental issues and assist with corrective action efforts.
  • Support employee environmental awareness and training programs.
  • Work directly with plant operations and maintenance teams to identify opportunities for environmental improvement.
  • Support environmental projects focused on reducing emissions, waste generation, and environmental risk.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of Environmental Management System (EMS) programs.
  • Help improve environmental processes, procedures, and reporting systems.
  • Participate in sustainability and environmental stewardship initiatives.
